Brass Band. 41 pages. RBMusic #801860. Published by RBMusic (A0.1203187). Helping Hands is a march written for the British Bandsman March Composition Contest, entered into category 2 (marches for 3rd/4th section bands). It is dedicated to all the volunteers that make the Whit Friday March Contests possible, which is said to be the greatest free show on Earth. The piece is loosely programmatic in nature. The introduction is fanfare-like, announcing the date of the next Whit Friday Contests and the bandsâ anticipation of and preparation for the event. The first section is the march of the volunteers, as they descend upon the many venues, ready to run the contests. There is the usual hustle and bustle before the second section sees the contests start. The bands strike up, march, finish and go from place to place, whilst the volunteers manage them, the audiences, and all manner of issues and problems thrown at them. The third section represents the bad weather which has, at times, presented itself on that particular Friday. But everyone carries on (possibly the sun comes out) and we enjoy the day.The trio uses the hymn St. Vincent by Sigismund Neukomm: St. Vincent de Paul is the patron saint of charities and volunteering, hence its use here. There is a small bridge that is reminiscent of previously used motifs and melodies before the hymn returns. The piece is influenced by marches that are commonly heard during the Whit Friday March Contests, using motifs, rhythms and harmonic progressions (sparingly) throughout the piece. This piece is for the UK-style brass band, includes march-card sized parts, with alternatives for horns in F and bass-clef lower brass.Other searchable terms: Delph, Denshaw, Diggle Dobcross, Friezland, Greenfield, Grotton, Lees and Springhead, Lydgate, Scouthead and Austerlands, Uppermill, Broadoak, Carrbrook, Denton, Droylsden, The Bush, Dukinfield, Tame Valley, Heyrod, Hurst Village, Ashton United FC, Stalybridge, Labour Club, Knight Templar, The Wizard, The President, Ravenswood, Honest Toil, Mephistopheles, Melphi, O.R.B., Castell Coch, Cornish Cavalier William Rimmer, T. Baritone Horn TC,Bass Trombone,Cornet,E-Flat Tuba TC,Euphonium,Trumpet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.752371 Composed by Rob Bushnell. Contemporary. 27 pages. RBMusic #4888989. Published by RBMusic (A0.752371). This piece was written in March 2008 to open the Leeds University Union Music Society (LUUMS) Wind Band's concert that took place on 27th April 2008. It features the brass (3 trumpets and 3 trombones) and percussion (drum kit, timpani and vibraphone). The title comes from University Challenge, where the initial question per set of questions (or the starter question) is worth 10 points, hence the quizmaster saying Here's your starter for ten.The piece is a great piece to start a concert with, perfect for junior and senior/professional ensembles alike. It has alternative parts so that other members of the brass family (French horns, tenor horns and tubas, as well as parts in treble clef) can either be substituted for the originals or can also play to ensure no brass player misses out. It will work for larger ensembles such as orchestras, wind/concert bands, military bands and brass bands, as well as smaller ensembles from brass sextets to brass dectets (assuming a drummer can be found). And the beginning can also feature the non-brass/percussion players with jungle-like sounds (optional, of course).

Brass Quintet Baritone Horn TC,Bass Trombone,Cornet,Euphonium,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1246889 Composed by Rob Bushnell. 21st Century,Classical,Contest,Festival,Traditional. 35 pages. RBMusic #841560. Published by RBMusic (A0.1246889). This fanfare was written to enter the Arts Active's Fanfare Competition, in celebration of St. David's Hall 40th Birthday. In writing this piece, I researched the musical history of St. Davidâs Hall. Unfortunately, it has proven very difficult to find specific songs/pieces from some of the key events (the only clip I could find was the Cory Band playing John Mileâs Music), so I focused on brass bands and Wales. The pieces incorporates Men of Harlech (Rhyfelgyrch GwÅ·r Harlech), Land of My Fathers (Hen Wlad fy Nhadau) and Philip Sparkeâs The Year of the Dragon. Growing up with brass band, I heard Men of Harlech a lot and it has always been my âgo toâ Welsh piece. Land of My Fathers is the unofficial anthem of Wales. As for The Year of the Dragon, it was used both times that St. Davidâs Hall has hosted the European Brass Band Championships: it was used as the set test pieces in 1986 for Desford Colliery Dowty Bandâs historic victory (under Howard Snell) and as the own choice test piece in 1992 as part of Britannia Building Society (now Fodens) Bandâs winning performances (again under Howard Snell). The Year of the Dragon is also a popular piece of music in the brass-band world and has much significance to me personally. The name of piece comes from the GPS location of St. Davidâs Hall (51.48022° N, 3.17653° W), rounded to the nearest integer: the actual location of 51° N, 3° W is just off of the A378 in North Curry in Taunton, Somerset, England. The competition stipulated that the fanfare was to be composed for a maximum of five standard brass band instruments and so was written for 2 Cornets, Tenor Horn, Trombone or Euphonium and Eb Bass. An additional score and parts have been provided for a more traditional brass quintet set up.

It was played as the Lord Mayor entered and ascended the stage. The piece takes 7 players (4 cornets and the 3 trombones) and uses them as a separate fanfare team - the antiphonal setting allows the fanfare team to be in a different location to the rest of the band. This piece is for the UK-style brass band, with alternative parts for horns in F and bass-clef lower brass. The A-Team is an American television series that ran from 1983 to 1987. It opens with the infamous narration: In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.

The show revolves around four members of the fictitious United States Army Special Forces unit. These are the leader Colonel/Colonel John "Hannibal" Smith (played by George Peppard), smooth-talking Lieutenant Templeton Peck or Face (Dirk Benedict), pilot Captain H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock (Dwight Schultz) and mechanic Sergeant First Class Bosco "B.A." Baracus (Mr. T).

The main theme was composed by Mike Post and Pete Carpenter, although the version they created was not the same as the theme heard on-screen (which is what this arrangement is of). The theme has been ranked among the best TV themes every written. Interesting, the French version of the theme has lyrics that mirror the spoken description of the English version of the show.
In 2010, 20th Century Fox released a feature film based on the series starring Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton Jackson and Sharlto Copley as the A-Team. Alan Silvestri composed the soundtrack.
A recording from the original soundtrack can be found on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MVonyVSQoM.

Brass Quintet Baritone Horn TC,Bass Trombone,Cornet,Euphonium,Flugelhorn,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1351992 Composed by Sergei Prokofiev. Arranged by Rob Bushnell. 20th Century,Classical,Film/TV,March,Opera. 21 pages. RBMusic #936821. Published by RBMusic (A0.1351992). In 1918, Sergei Prokofiev undertook his first visit to the United States. A number of concerts of his works were held in Chicago, which were received very favourably. As a result, the director of the Chicago Opera Association, Cleofonte Campanini, commissioned Prokofiev to write an opera. It just so happened that, during his trip, he had written a draft of a libretto, based on the Italian play by Gozzi L'amore delle tre melarance, adding some additional Surrealism to the text. Given Prokofievâs poor English, and Americanâs unlikely to accept an opera in Russian, French was his final choice. The result, L'amour des trois oranges (or The Love for Three Oranges), which premiered at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago on 30 December 1921, conducted by Prokofiev himself. The March from this opera is probably the most familiar part and has been used by CBS in the radio-drama series The FBI in Peace and War. It was also used in films such as The Brink's Job and Prokofiev quoted it in the second act of his ballet Cinderella. This arrangement includes alternative parts for tenor horn, treble-clef trombone/euphonium and tuba. A recording of the original can be found on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obTZBHAuOqY.

By John Powell. Arranged by Rob Bushnell. 20th Century,Celtic,Film/TV,Folk,Irish. Brass Band. 79 pages. RBMusic #795900. Published by RBMusic (A0.1196739). Test Drive is from the soundtrack to the 2010 computer-animated action fantasy film How to Train Your Dragon, based on the book by Cressida Cowell. It follows the story of Hiccup and Toothless as they form an unlikely friendship, against the backdrop of the Viking village of Berk, where the other villagers attempt to kill dragons when they attack. The music is composed by John Powell. Whilst this was his sixth collaboration with DreamWorks Animation, it was the first where he was the sole composer (having worked with other composers such as Harry Gregson-Williams and Hans Zimmer prior to this). In an interview with The Wasp, Powell said that the directors wanted âsize and depth and emotionâ, wanting âa feeling of the Nordic musical past.â This led him to the music of Nielsen, Grieg and, in particular, Sibelius. âSibelius was the key. I studied a lot of Sibelius as a kid, and I've always adored his music.â He continues, âwe looked at all the folk music from the Nordic areas. And I'm part Scottish and grew up with a lot of Scottish folk music, so that came into it a lot. And Celtic music was something that Jeffrey [Katzenberg] felt had this very attractive quality to it, and a sweetness, that he thought would be wonderful for the film.Test Drive appears in the film when Hiccup first takes flight on Toothless. It perfectly brings together âHiccup's Themeâ and âToothless' Themeâ. The two themes take over from each other, representing the development of their onscreen relationship during this flight scene as Hiccup starts to trust Toothless, and vice versa. The soundtrack was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Score and the BAFTA Award for Best Film Music. This arrangement is for the UK-style brass band, with alternative parts for horns in F and bass-clef lower brass. Intermezzo from "Cavalleria rusticana" (Mascagni) - Solo Trombone or Euphonium and Piano

B-Flat instrument,B-Flat trombone,Baritone Horn TC/Euphonium,C Instrument,Instrumental Solo,Piano,Tenor Trombone,Trombone/Baritone B.C. - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1320503 Composed by Pietro Mascagni. Arranged by Rob Bushnell. Classical,Easter,Film/TV,Opera,Romantic Period. Score and individual part. 9 pages. RBMusic #909019. Published by RBMusic (A0.1320503). In 1889, a struggling composer called Pietro Mascagni heard about a sponsored competition for one-act operas, specifically for young Italian composers who had not yet had an opera performed, only two months before the deadline. With little time, he selected the subject for his opera and asked his childhood friend, Giovanni Targioni-Tozzetti (who was helped by Guido Menasci), to write a libretto for him. Mascagni selected a story that he had seen as a play in Milan in early 1884 by realist writer Giovanni Verga, âRustic Chivalryâ, or Cavalleria rusticana. A passionate love tragedy featuring seduction, adultery, revenge and murder, it is surprising set on Easter morning.Mascagni received only a few verses at a time from his librettists, but he was not worried because he had the opera clear in his mind: âI identified with the drama to such an extent that I felt it within myself in terms of music.â After two monthsâ of work, the music for Cavalleria rusticana was finished but he feared the opera would fail and put the music in a draw. Fortunately, his wife sent it off, he unanimously won the competition and was soon the talk of Europe. (At the premiere in May 1890 in Rome, Mascagni received no fewer than 60 curtain calls.) Unfortunately, it was a one-hit wonder with Mascagni unable to repeat its success, saying towards the end of his life that âit is a pity I wrote Cavalleria first for I was crowned before I became king.â He died, penniless, in 1945.Today, few people have heard of Mascagniâs name, and, if they have, it is rarely in relation to anything but one piece from Cavalleria rusticana, the Intermezzo. A short piece of purely orchestral music that is uses to denote the passage of time, the orchestration is very simple but it is such an indulgently beautiful melody (based on a hymn heard earlier in the short opera) that perfectly captures the peace of country living in Sicily against the intense feelings of the main characters and the looming tragedy to come. The piece is so popular that (along with the âEaster Hymnâ from the same opera), it is the only reason Mascagni features in the Classic FMâs Hall of Fame. The piece was used in the 1980 film Raging Bull and the 1990 film The Godfather Part III.This arrangement (for solo trombone or euphonium and piano accompaniment) includes an alternative part for trombone/euphonium in treble clef.
